AIDET: A Tool with Five Fundamental Characteristics of Patient Communication
AIDET is an acronym that stands for Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You. This is a framework to communicate with patients and their families as well as colleagues and with each other. This simple acronym is a very powerful way to communicate and improving patient, family and colleagues satisfaction.
