OKC IMA Chapter Seminar -

Wednesday, November 14, 2018

OKC IMA proudly presents

Brian Woodland, CFM, CMA, MBA

EVP of Finance, LD Entertainment

"North American Film Industry:

Macroeconomics, Film Finance, and Project Accounting"

Biography

After a 17-year career in accounting for manufacturing and industrial companies, Brian Woodland accepted the opportunity to work in Hollywood from a desk in Oklahoma City. Brian has served as the EVP of Finance for LD Entertainment, a private-equity backed independent film studio since January 2013. With offices in West Hollywood, New York City, Vancouver, and Oklahoma City, LD Entertainment has produced or distributed thirty motion pictures since 2007, including the Oklahoma-filmed blockbuster, “I Can Only Imagine” as well as “Risen” starring Tom Felton and Joseph Fiennes, “Jackie” starring Natalie Portman, and Liam Neeson’s “The Grey”.

Aside from learning the motion picture industry’s finance and accounting nuances, Brian’s experience with LD has included organizing the legal and tax infrastructure to comply with federal, state, and international regulations—and claim production tax incentives—in jurisdictions across the U.S., Canada, Spain, Malta, the UK, and the Czech Republic.

During the six years prior to joining LD, Brian held multiple positions with GE Oil & Gas Artificial Lift, known as Wood Group ESP prior to GE’s acquisition. Before moving to Oklahoma City in 2007, Brian had worked in Utah, Arkansas, and Mississippi in furniture manufacturing, telecom equipment manufacturing, wire and cable manufacturing, and heating equipment manufacturing.

Brian is a CMA and a CFM. He has an MBA from Brigham Young University’s Marriot School and a B.A. in Accounting from Weber State University. He and his wife, Michelle, have five children and one son-in-law.
