Irvington Development Organization | Proudly Revitalizing the Community’s Historic Charm
In its heyday, Irvington was a thriving street car suburb and prominent arts community on Indianapolis’ east side, and it was once home to Butler University. Like many urban areas, Irvington experienced a period of decline after WWII, but the neighborhood has experienced a resurgence in recent years. During this presentation, Emily Mack, the Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development for the City of Indianapolis, will talk about all things Irvington, including an overview of its historic significance, the neighborhood’s decline, and recent efforts and future plans to further spur the revitalization of this historic neighborhood.
