Preventionists unite! Our four frames of violence prevention (address root causes + shift culture + build skills + promote healthy relationships) have helped us move forward in our prevention work. This has been so great. And yet it is easier to rely on the last two frames (skill building and healthy relationships work) without making deeper and necessary shifts in our communities. Prevention through liberation requires us (and enables us) to address the root causes of violence and use the lens of racial justice as a means to achieving healthier relationships and a society free from violence.
Join Vanessa Timmons and Meagan Schorr from the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and Angeli Bhatt from API Chaya as they help us to go from the theoretical to the tangible and provide practical guidance for how to move upstream and address the root causes of violence and embrace liberatory practices in our prevention work.
