Session 1 - IoT (In)Security
Abstract: 
In this presentation, what IoT is, and is not, will be defined and current vulnerabilities discussed.  Security concerns with IoT include weak authentication, often no use of encryption, vulnerabilities in protocols used, and IT personnel who are generally unaware of the protocols used for these products.

Speaker: Tim Mather, Chief Security Strategist at PatternEx

Tim Mather is Chief Security Strategist at PatternEx, a security start-up working on bringing artificial intelligence to information security. He is a long-time information security practitioner, having also served in senior security roles previously at Cadence Design Systems, Splunk and Symantec as CISO; at RSA Security as Chief Security Strategist; and, as head of information security at VeriSign and Apple.
He has co-authored two books on information security: “Cloud Security and Privacy: An Enterprise Perspective on Risks and Compliance” (O'Reilly) and “The Executive Guide to Information Security: Threats, Challenges, and Solutions” (Addison-Wesley). Tim is a CISSP, CISA, and CISM. He holds Master’s Degrees in Information Assurance from Brandeis University, National Security Studies from Georgetown University, and International Policy Studies from Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Economics from the University of California at Berkeley. Tim has extensive public speaking experience at major information security conferences.

2. The need to create a cloud governance framework before moving to the cloud (or veryearly on)  (5 minutes)

Speaker: Eli Rohn, PhD

Eli Rohn, PhD is an Azure Data Solutions Architect with the Strategic Customers Team at Microsoft. He helps customers create their digital transformation, vision and strategy. Eli architects scalable data processing and analytics solutions, including technical feasibility and proposal development for Big Data and Machine Learning projects. He is obsessed about his customers’ success by getting the most out of their investment in the cloud. Prior to this role, Eli was Founder and CEO of a successful start-up company developing unique Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions. In parallel he was Professor of Information Systems and Software Engineering at BGU, ranked 30th world-wide.There he oversaw market-facing R&D and start-up projects related to Business Process Reengineering, Green Energy, Mobile Phones, IoT in Agriculture, Machine Learning, and algorithms development. Prior to that, Eli was a visionary leader creating and managing substantial digital transformation projects as a consultant to firms such as Nabisco, Ford Motors Company, Chanel, Scholastic, AT&T, Pfizer, Merck, the City of New York and many others. A charismatic speaker, Eli has appeared on national TV and international radio, presented at dozens of forums and conferences around the world, including the EU’s Food Security Commission (Brussels), the UN’s Disaster and Risk Conference (Davos), and many others. He has written three books, published more than 25 peer-reviewed scientific articles and over 20 popular articles. Eli holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science from Tel-Aviv University, a Master of Science in Management of Information Technology from NJIT’s Schoolof Management and a PhD in Information Systems from NJIT’s School of Computing Sciences (ranked 9th in the USA at the time), specializing in complex adaptive systems. He is also a Certified Microsoft Professional (MCPS), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), certified deep water diver and holds a commercial pilot license.

 

Cancellation / Refund Policy:
ISACA Silicon valley aims to keep the costs minimum for such events. Also due to prior payments made to conference venue and instructor, no cash refund will be provided. If you cancel your registration one day prior to the event, a credit will be given to attend a future event in 2019 (Meeting / Training). No credit will be given for the cancellation request on the day of the event or later.
