How to Manage Change Effectively at Work - NEFLIN (01/31/19)

Most organizations experience change on a regular basis. The fact that this happens does not mean that employees enjoy the process, or that the experience of change is pleasant. On the contrary, change is often frightening, disheartening, and frustrating for everyone involved. Change is almost always disruptive and, at times, traumatic. In fact, most people experience the grieving process when dealing with some sort of change activity. Because of this, many people avoid any kind of change if they can. Nevertheless, change is part of organizational life and essential for progress. This course is designed for supervisors and managers to learn specific strategies to help their employees work through and get through change as best as possible. Also, you will learn how to construct an eight step change management plan.

Participants will be able:

• To describe how customers, employees, and work has changed over the last 30 years
• To explain the grieving process and how it relates to employees working through a change 
• To describe why employees don’t like to change
• To describe the human and business sides of change
• To describe ways to use  to alleviate employee stress regarding change
• Specific strategies to use/practice when change occurs in the workplace
• How to help yourself, as a supervisor, deal with change
• How to develop a “Change Management Action Plan”

Trainer: Michael Clark, MRC Consulting

Michael Clark has an extensive background in the areas of management and supervisory development, quality improvement efforts, facilitation of strategic planning sessions and executive retreats, and one-on-one executive coaching. He worked as a Training and Performance Improvement Director for various State of Florida government agencies for many years and has been the Owner/President of MRC Consulting for fifteen years. He has designed numerous training programs (including online) using the Instructional Systems Design Methodology, and has delivered over 2000 seminars, workshops, and presentations covering a diverse set of topics, with a focus towards developing leadership skills for managers and supervisors.

Mr. Clark has earned a B. S. degree in Experimental Psychology, a M.Ed., and has completed the course work for a Ph.D. in Educational Administration with an emphasis in Instructional Systems Design Methodology at Florida State University.
