How to Transition Into A Lean Environment - NEFLIN (03/14/19)

Do you want to reduce waste and streamline operations? Do you want to raise the level of employee engagement in your business unit or entire organization? Do you want to increase the level of customer satisfaction as a result of your service offerings? Lean thinking is a philosophy and a powerful set of tools designed to eliminate waste from processes. It focuses on what adds value in your processes from a customer's perspective. While its roots are in manufacturing, this training covers how to apply it to both services and administrative functions. Lean thinking provides fast and dramatic results, and works best with everyone’s involvement. So, if you are looking for a foundation to improve the quality of your operations, raise the level of customer satisfaction with your services, and/or an approach that builds on past improvement techniques, then lean thinking and the subsequent use of lean tools can introduce fresh and innovative ways to improve your processes and ultimate organizational performance.

Participants will be able:

  • To describe the basics of the lean philosophy, methodology, and tools
  • To identify the benefits of lean to an organization
  • To differentiate between lean and six sigma
  • To describe how to overcome certain obstacles that organizations face in a lean environment
  • To actually map and analyze a typical process
  • To create a SIPOC diagram
  • To describe what value added means, and list opportunities/scenarios where value added can actually happen at work
  • To describe the problem solving process and how to generally use the DMAIC process
