NOVEMBER 2018 LWVCC
Luncheon & General Meeting
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN COLLIER COUNTY GOVERNMENT
presented by
Andy Solis
Chairman, Board of County Commissioners
A shortage of mental health treatment facilities. The sudden degradation of our waters. Roads and infrastructure. Affordable housing. Growth and development in eastern Collier County. These are just some of the many challenges facing the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) in the months ahead.
The November general meeting and luncheon will feature BCC Chairman Andy Solis (pronounced “so-LEASE”). Andy is a native Floridian who grew up in Gainesville, the first American-born child in a family that fled Cuba after losing everything to a Communist dictatorship. After attending the University of Alabama as a 2-time All American tennis player, Andy graduated from the Florida State University College of Law, and then clerked at the Florida Supreme Court.
Since 1994, Andy has lived, worked, and raised two wonderful children in Collier County’s District 2. In addition to serving as a Director with the law firm of Cohen & Grigsby, Andy has been involved with many different charitable and community service organizations and with economic development efforts in Collier County. After serving on the Planning Commission, in 2016, he was elected to represent District 2 on the Collier County Board of Commissioners and is currently the Chairman of the Board.
Luncheon sign-in begins at 11:45 on November 19
