Join us at 5:00pm for Winnipeg’s premier investment community event in the RBC Convention Centre’s York Ballroom where we invite our guests to start the evening at the cocktail reception sponsored by GLC Asset Management complete with complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.

Mingle with your guests and industry colleagues as Master of Ceremonies, Bruce Sellery, guides us through the evening’s events. CFA Institute representative will be in attendance to bring greetings and present the charters to Winnipeg’s newest CFA charterholders. Following a three course meal and the presentation of the forecaster of the year awards, Bruce will facilitate a panel-style market forecast discussion with our distinguished industry experts before we wrap up the formal events and adjourn to the reception that will remain open until 10:00pm.

Bruce Sellery

Bruce Sellery is a personal finance expert, author, and TV host. He has written two Globe & Mail bestselling books including, “Moolala: Why smart people do dumb things with money (and what you can do about it)”.  He writes columns for Moneysense Magazine, Chatelaine and Today’s Parent and is a featured guest on media outlets across North America including Cityline, Breakfast Television, CBC Radio, MSNBC and CNN. He was a host of “The Exchange” on CBC Television, reality TV show “Million Dollar Neighbourhood” on the Oprah Winfrey Network and an anchor for the “Business News Network” in Toronto and New York City. Prior to his move into media, Bruce worked in marketing strategy at Procter & Gamble. He is an alumnus of the Governor General’s Leadership Conference, a director of the Canadian Club of Toronto, and a member of the Advisory Board for the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, his alma mater.

Sachin Gupta


Mr. Gupta is a managing director in the Newport Beach office, global portfolio manager and head of the global desk. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Portfolio Committee and has also served as a member of the European Portfolio Committee and a rotating member of the Investment Committee. Previously, he was in PIMCO's London office managing European liability driven investment (LDI) portfolios. Before that, he was part of PIMCO’s global portfolio management team in the Singapore office. In these roles, he focused on investments in government bonds, foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives across global markets. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2003, he was in the fixed income and currency derivatives group at ABN AMRO Bank. He has 21 years of investment experience and holds an MBA from XLRI, India. He received an undergraduate degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

Craig Basinger

Craig Basinger is Chief Investment Officer of Richardson GMP, Canada's largest independent provider of wealth advice, entrusted with over $30 billion in client assets. Richardson GMP's sole focus is to provide great wealth advice to our clients.

Craig heads up the firm's asset management division, Connected Wealth. He began his investment career in 1995 and combines an educational foundation in economics an psychology with years of experience in both fundamental and quantitative research. A long term student of the markets, Craig's thoughts and insights can be read in Market Ethos publications availabe at www.conectedwealth.com and he is a regular contributor on BNN. Craig and his team champion a transparent and cost efficient approach to investment management providing asset allocation services and managing over $700M in both separately managed accounts and funds in partnership with Purpose Investments. The team manages dividend mandates, quantitative risk reduction strategies and Canada's first behavioural finance based fund.

Benoît Durocher

Benoît Durocher is Executive Vice-President & Chief Economic Strategist at Addenda Capital. Benoît is responsible for the firm's overall economic outlook. He also leads the active duration team in fixed income and actively contributes to client relations.  Benoît has been with Addenda Capital since 1997 and is a member of the Executive Committee, Investment Committee, Investment Risk Committee, Credit Committee, Sustainable Investing Committee and Best Execution Committee. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from McGill University and a Master's Degree in Economics from Université Laval.

Wendy Pirie


Wendy L Pirie, PhD, CFA, CA, CPA/PFS, CGMA, CAIA, is currently Director, Exam Development (CIPM) and for almost ten years was Director, Curriculum Projects in the Credentialing Division at CFA Institute. Prior to joining CFA Institute in 2008, she taught for over 20 years in Canada and the United States at a broad range of institutions – large public universities; small, private, religiously affiliated colleges; and a military academy. She primarily taught finance courses but also taught accounting, taxation, business law, marketing, statistics and strategy courses. She has published in Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Economics and Finance, Educational Innovation in Economics and Business, and Managerial Finance. Before teaching, she worked at Deloitte in Toronto. Her most recent research focused on stewardship and integrating moral conscience into management and financial decision-making. She holds a PhD from Queen’s University at Kingston and MBAs from Universities of Toronto and Calgary.
