Step Up Your Sailing! - Oakcliff Calling all Michigan Jr. Sailors
Oakcliff and GYPC invite all young sailors (and those wanting to become young sailors) to a special event the Wednesday after Thanksgiving. Michigander Dawn Riley will entertain and educate sailors with stories from her America's Cup and Round the World Races and help them discover their future inside and out of sailing.
Grosse Pointe Yacht Club is providing pIzza and pop at 5pm. There will be a cash bar for those who are 'age appropriate'. The program will run from 5:30 to 6:30.
Dawn Riley is one of the best-known sailors in the world with 4 America’s Cups and 2 Round the World Races as well as a handful of World Championships to her name. She is still the only woman and youngest CEO of an America’s Cup Team.
Currently she is Executive Director at Oakcliff Sailing, a non profit, coaching and training center in Oyster Bay New York.
Oakcliff has completely unique programs from corporate teambuilding to a tuition based residential program for dedicated athletes trying to reach the highest levels in the sport. Oakcliff is Building American Leaders Through Sailing.
