Description:

Social anxiety in children is among the four most common forms of anxiety.  Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. Too much stress becomes distress and opens the door to Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) and ultimately Panic Attacks, and various forms of anxiety disorders that are often seen in play therapy.   This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of anxiety and demonstrate cognitive behavior and directive play therapy interventions for children and adolescents. Group discussion, art, music and play therapy will part of this learning experience.

This workshop is designed for:

 Social workers (LCSW, LMSW, LISW, BSW, AAW), psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) school counselors, school psychologist, professional counselors (LMHC, LCMHC, CMHC, LPC, LCPC), marriage and family therapists (LMFT, LIMFT) art therapists, play therapists, occupational therapists, graduate students, and others in the mental health-related field.  This is a presentation for professionals at all levels to participate.

Founder and Executive Director of Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars. Founder and Director of Barstow Acres Children’s Center, a non-profit organization that provides children’s mental health services.  Trained in Gestalt play therapy with Violet Oaklander (retired). Authored chapter, Play Therapy with African-American Children in text, Cultural Issues in Play Therapy  by Eliana Gil, PhD, RPT-S and Athena Drewes, PsyD, RPT-S.

Cost: This training is free to attend; however, there is a CE Certificate processing fee of $25.00.

Cancellation Policy:

     Written cancellation must be received in our office at least ten working days prior to the training. A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Otherwise, a voucher will be given. If you do not notify us a minimum of ten business days prior to the training of your intent to cancel, you will not receive a refund or credit.  Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars reserves the right to cancel a training or workshop due to inclement weather or not enough attendance.  In this event, CBPS will provide you with a full refund.  In the event of inclement weather please check your email for CBPS notifications/instructions and/or voicemail phone system.

Change of Instructors:

     CBPS also reserves the right to change instructors if needed to ensure an effective training.  In the event that this takes place you will be notified with the change as soon as possible.

CE Certificates:

     After completion of the workshop, participants who have provided payment and accurate information on the registration form, documented attendance with signature & initials on the sign-in/sign-out sheets  and completed an event evaluation  will recieve their certificate by email within 14 days.  Occasionally, organizations make other arrangements to recieve certificates.
