Urinary incontinence is a condition that affects women and men, young and old.

The causes of incontinence are multifactorial, but incontinence can often be improved or eliminated altogether with a comprehensive and step-by-step pelvic floor muscle training programme.

Explore the anatomy of the female and male pelvic floor, how continence is maintained, and contributing factors to incontinence.

Learn to recognize and correct faulty postures, breathing patterns, and movement strategies that can affect continence and how to apply this stepwise method to improving continence.

 

Objectives

  • Describe the anatomy of the pelvic floor in females and males
  • Explain the mechanisms of continence and causes of incontinence   in females and males
  • Recognize faulty movement strategies, postures, and breathing   patterns that contribute to incontinenc
  • Apply an evidence-based, step-by-step approach to help clients improve continence

Prerequisites

Pilates Mat or comprehensive training, personal training certification, physiotherapist

There will be a short written, multiple answer comprehension test towards the end of the course to ensure that key information from this course has been understood prior to leaving the workshop.
