RESPIRATOR FIT TESTING

The OSHA respiratory protection standard requires that fit testing be performed before an employee first starts wearing a respirator in the work environment, whenever a different respirator facepiece is used, and at least annually thereafter. OSHA also requires that employees be medically cleared and fit tested before wearing a respirator. Medical clearance must be obtained prior to fit testing. Beards, mustaches, or even stubble interfere with the seal of a tight-fitting respirator. OSHA requires that employees be clean-shaven the day of the fit test and prohibit any facial hair in areas where the respirator comes into contact with the face. We are unable to refund the cost of your fit test if you are not prepared or do not have passing medical clearance documentation. Every participant who successfully completes the fit test is provided with a certificate. The fee for the fit test is $50.00.
