Healing and Resilience: The Journey Forward
We hope you can join us for the Healing and Resilience: The Journey Forward Conference on Thursday March 21, 2019. This is our second annual conference on the science of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), neuroscience, epigenetics and resilience.
This conference is open to behavioral health providers and other stakeholders who are interested in integrating the science of ACES and resilience into policies and practices in Baltimore City. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the whole person impact of trauma and how to draw on the strengths of communities, culture and spiritual identities to promote healing.
The conference will feature presentations from national experts including:
- Christina Lee, MD, Kaiser Permanente: Dr. Lee will discuss the landmark 1990's ACEs study and how Kaiser is implementing the science of ACEs to improve outcomes and support resilience.
- Fredrick Streets, DD, Yale University Divinty School: Dr. Streets will discuss how to listen to stories of trauma in a way that understands the whole person.
- Fred W. Rottnek, MD, Medical Director, Assisted Recovery Centers of America: Dr. Rottnek will talk about the surprisingly similar effects of trauma and substance use on the brain and how this information informs effective treatment modalities.
- Panel Discussion: The panel will discuss how to integrate this science into policies and practices in Baltimore City.
6.25 CEUs will be available upon request for social workers, professional counselors and therapists.
