Plant Hunting in the Far East: Special Guest Presentation and Book Signing with Mark Weathington

Japan, China, and Taiwan are some of the richest areas for collecting plants suitable for western gardens. Join Mark for an exciting tour of the plants, places, and people he has encountered on collecting trips throughout the East.

Following Mark’s talk will be a special opportunity to purchase signed copies of his new book “Gardening in the South: The Complete Homeowner's Guide”

Mark Weathington is the Director of the JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University where he is passionate in his work to connect people with plants. His career in public horticulture has also included the Norfolk Botanical Garden where he served as Director of Horticulture and the Atlanta Botanical Garden as a horticulturist. He travels extensively searching for new plants to diversify the American landscape and lecturing on a variety of topics in horticulture to further the JC Raulston Arboretum’s vision of “Planning and Planting a Better World.” Mark has recently completed Gardening in the South: The Complete Homeowner's Guide for Timber Press and writes a column for the Raleigh based News & Observer newspaper.

There will be one tour at 10 am and a presentation at 11.
