High Reliability in Healthcare Workshop

Michelle Rathman is returning to Kentucky with retired Coast Guard helicopter pilot Russell Hellstern. Russell has over 20 years’ experience in aviation safety, accident investigation, contingency planning, off-shore helicopter operations, search and rescue, medical evacuation,counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, and public affairs and together, they will elevate the discussion of high-reliability in health care.

This unique and innovative program for Kentucky Rural Hospitals is an outstanding opportunity for health care teams focusing on new approaches to improve their culture of quality and safety from every aspect of operations. Michelle and Russell’s mix of both health care and aviation safety knowledge and culture improvement promise to be a powerful and genuinely eye-opening experience.

Administrators, board members, quality directors, chief medical andnursing officers, and those with direct responsibility to ensure both employees and patients are spared from harm caused by the human factors will come as a team and leave as a force on a mission to eliminate the avoidable conditions that cause devastating incidents that alter the course of people’s lives.

This training is funded in part by HHS HRSA FORHP Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Grant Program funds and is offered to you through a collaboration of the Kentucky Office of Rural Health and UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health.

This event is free for CAH attendees and CAH owned and operated RHC attendees. Non-CAHs must pay a registration fee of $35 to attend. Checks made out to UK Center of Excellence in Rural Health can be mailed to:
