PNCR training events are available at no cost to parents, family members, caregivers, and community members whose children and loved ones have disabilities. We also welcome in attendance, professionals working with children and families, however please remember, PNCR trainings are NOT designed or intended for use as professional development hours. The design, content, and delivery of our trainings is focused on informing and meeting the needs of parents and family members as they partner with their child's educational team and school district to ensure an appropriate education for their child. If you are a professional and are not sure if this training will meet your needs please contact the PNCR office at 518-640-3333 or email info@pncrny.org.

This training is designed for parents who want to gain a better understanding of an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Participants will be guided through each section of an IEP and provided information on required content for each section. Discussion will involve the IEP as a strategic planning document with emphasis given to:

  • how the IEP is developed
  • parent roles during the IEP development process;
  • how each section builds upon the next to guide instruction for the coming year.
Participants will also gain a general understanding of the CSE/ CPSE process and frequently used special education terminology.
