About the class
This class is a basic overview of construction scheduling—covers critical path, flow of work, schedule updates and schedule components. Includes a practice workshop. NOT a software class.
By the end of this class, participants will better understand:
- The basics of scheduling
- Why we use a schedule
- How to logically set the flow of work for a project, set up durations and other essential schedule components.
- What is the “critical path” of a schedule?
- Can the “critical path” change on a schedule?
- Why is the “flow of the work” on the schedule so important?
- Why update a schedule?
- What causes the schedule to be updated?
- How to use the schedule as a daily tool to monitor the progress of the work
- How to motivate contractors when they fall behind
The second half of the class is a practice workshop in which students will work through an actual project schedule. Using a sample schedule, students will:
- Set up activities in a logical sequence
- Establish durations
- Set predecessors and successors
