RMAR Welcomes Jeff Kaye 1/31/19

RMAR is excited to welcome Jeff Kaye and Karen Schmidt to Colorado on Thursday, January 31st, 2019.

Jeff Kaye and Karen Schmidt will be hosting two events on the 31st - one focused towards Recruiters in the morning, and an afternoon session focused towards Managers & Owners. You won't want to miss this event!

9-10am -  Tip-A-Palooza 2019:  We will kick off the year, and our session, looking back on the best of the best of the past!  Jeff and Karen will get us started with a rapid-fire greatest hits of the best nuggets, techniques, and best practices that they have learned from the hundreds of hours spent learning the material on NLE, consulting with big billers from around the world.  BUT WAIT!  This isn’t some sit-back-and-relax-because-it’s-early-session – come prepared to share your own tips of what separates you from others! Top tips could involve planning, how you convert contingent clients to retained, what your metrics are you hold yourself to each week, what you do that creates a killer boardroom presentation, what MarCom you’ve done (case studies, newsletters, touch plan, etc), what your most effective voicemail script is, how you get past initial resistance on the call, etc. Be prepared to share your top 3-5 tactical tips; all will be aggregated and shared with all those in attendance!

10:15-11:15a – How to be a Diamond in a Rhinestone World:  Yes, this is a nod to Dolly Parton; she’s making a comeback thanks to the release of Dumplin’ on Neflix (tip whether you attend our conference or not – you can skip this one no matter how much you love Dolly, or Jennifer Aniston, or even dumplings).  The truth is, the recruiting industry is drowning in noise and we have not done a lot to change our approach.  This session will take a hard look at your recruiting and client development introductions, make you question the questions you ask throughout the call, and provide examples of effective ways to follow through with continued communication that provides value.  No matter how long you’ve been in this industry, we’ll uncover a little more of the diamond in the rough from each of you!

11:30- 12:30p – Avoiding Landmines:  Have you ever had a placement go sideways and think “ugh, I should have seen that coming” or perhaps even “I NEVER saw that coming?”  There is a strategy for avoiding landmines throughout the closing and placement process, and this session will teach you some of the new and remind you of some of the old that may have even hit you recently!  Our earlier session focused on how to separate yourself from others, but this session will focus on what’s closest to money!  Once you have a candidate and hiring manager ready to walk down the aisle, make sure that aisle has been pre-cleared and pre-closed, and leave nothing to chance.

12:30 – 1:30  Lunch

1:30 – 4:30p  Owner/Manager Workshop:  By definition, those prioritizing being in attendance at this workshop puts you in a different category than most search firm managers and owners!  Many people talk about what they want but few are willing to prioritize working on their business as much as they do a typical search for a client. At times, that prioritization requires a slow, steady chipping away all while having faith that the chipping is leading to a greater purpose.

Most would agree that the things worth having and achieving in life do not come easy. When the going gets tough, we have a tendency to rationalize why we are not succeeding in our pursuits:

“I don’t have enough time.”

“It just wasn’t in the cards.”

“I decided it wasn’t really what I wanted.”

“It is not the right time, I will pursue when I have more balance.”

As leaders, we are not immune to this rationalization - the use of feeble but seemingly plausible arguments either to justify something that is difficult to accept or to make it seem ‘not so bad after all'. We all know that it is easier to blame external factors instead of blaming yourself, and this habit can be one of the toughest to break, but is a true necessity for a high level of self-awareness. It does not matter if you think you want to build a small team or a large firm; there is a gap between what you want and where you are at. This session will focus on figuring out exactly what you need to do to close that gap. The timing for doing so and firm you desire will only be a function of your desire, capability, people, market conditions, and capital.

4:45p  Happy Hour

JEFF KAYE
Jeff Kaye leads Kaye/Bassman, a search firm that has averaged over $15m annually for the last decade, while simultaneously starting a training firm that now has over 2,000 recruiting firm clients in 30 countries. Seven years ago, his organization purchased Sanford Rose Associates and has grown the number of offices in the network by 50% yet revenues by over 500% in the same time.

KAREN SCHMIDT

After achieving a personal production of over $1m placing individuals within the commercial construction practice at Kaye/Bassman, Karen Schmidt then transitioned into a leadership role within the firm, redesigning their new hire training and development program.  Karen was one of the pioneers who helped launch Next Level Exchange, and is responsible for much of the content and programming in addition to serving as frequent consultant to search firm owners who have a greater vision of growth, hiring and training.
