About the Annual Meeting

Each year the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County brings together hundreds of business and civic leaders from across the region to celebrate the people and projects that have made a difference in the South Sound's economy.

We will announce the 2018 Excellent 10 Awards, hand out the coveted Golden Shovel, and yes, give away prizes.

Keynote Speaker

We cannot wait to introduce you to our 2019 keynote speaker, Rebecca Ryan.

Trained as an futurist and an economist, Rebecca helps cities figure out “what’s next” through speaking from the stage, leading foresight processes for organizations and communities, and teaching the science (and art) of strategic foresight.

Rebecca is frequently called a “human sparkplug” and you’ll see why. Her enthusiasm for walking cities through the strategic foresight process is contagious. She’s a high-energy speaker who will leave event attendees asking to get engaged in planning our communities for the next generation.

She is also literally a baller, having played pro-basketball in eastern Europe throughout her twenties.
