"Unearthly Clay", a Brad Blair Workshop, Saratoga Clay Arts, April 27-28, 2019.

Take a look at ceramics through a different lens! This two-day "Hands-on" workshop will encourage participants to use their skills and imaginations to build otherworldly works in clay with an artist who does just that! Various demonstrations and discussions will take place in order to explore the different areas of Brad Blair’s complex creation process. Some of these include throwing closed forms on the potter’s wheel, building and altering slabs on hump molds, glazing techniques, adding non-clay elements into glazed ware, and more.

Brad Blair is an artist, educator and gallery coordinator living in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2014, he earned an M.F.A. degree from Florida State University (FSU) focusing on ceramics and sculpture. Prior to FSU, he graduated from Towson University in 2009 with a B.S. degree, majoring in Art & Design. Aside from making artwork and exhibiting it nationally, Blair is an adjunct professor at Towson University, gallery coordinator at Harford Community College and instructor of ceramic classes at Baltimore Clayworks and The New Phoenix Pottery. Using his sense of creativity, imagination and patience, Blair builds detailed sculptural monstrosities to open the minds of viewers into a different reality, the unknown.

Sign up today if you want to break away from your usual studio routine and explore a new avenue in clay!
