Navigate Export Finance 

Business owners interested in exporting are frequently put off by the idea of figuring out the financial aspect. This workshop simplifies the process of international finance.

This workshop will help you learn: 

  1. International payment methods - What’s best and when? Ursula Wegrzynowicz, President, EMELEV LLC, International sales strategies.
  2. Export payments, credit or not - how to’s. Mike Howard, Managing Director Central Region, Export-Import Bank of the U.S.
  3. SBA export financing - What’s a banker looking at? Alan Lane-Murcia, Vice President, SBA Program Manager, First American Bank.  

Time:

  • 8:30 - 9:00: Breakfast and networking 
  • 9:00 - 10:30: Presentation and Q&A

About the presenters:

Ursula Wegrzynowicz, President, EMELEV LLC. Ursula has twenty years working in Trade Finance; Worked at EXIM Bank, public sector provider of trade finance services; Worked in the International Trade Services areas of Chase and Wells Fargo; Partner at a specialty broker of trade credit insurance; E Award Winning brokerage (2015) and EXIM Bank “broker of the year” (2008 and 2012); Gained logistics experience at LR International. Ursula was appointed by US Secretary of Commerce to Illinois District Export Council and serve on the Executive Committee in the role of Secretary. Also serve on the Illinois Advisory Committee to U.S. Global Leadership Coalition.

Michael Howard, Managing Director, Central Region, Export-Import Bank of the United States. Mike has over 30 years of experience with EXIM Bank’s products, and advises exporters, bankers and the trade-related business community in international risk mitigation and trade financing techniques. The Regional Export Finance Centers of EXIM Bank focus on assisting small business exporters. Mike and his team work with companies to help them obtain pre-export working capital, buyer credit financing, and export credit insurance to mitigate the risks of foreign buyer non-payment.

Alan Lane-Murcia, Vice President and SBA Program Manager at First American Bank. Alan has been involved in international business since 1991 and has been an SBA lender since 2000.  He has been involved in every aspect of SBA lending, and oversees the bank’s SBA program, including maintaining their status as a Preferred Lender under the Export Working Capital Program and the Export Express Program.  Under his leadership First American Bank was awarded the SBA Illinois Export Lender of the year in 2015 and National Export lender of the year in 2017.  Alan holds an MBA in International Economic Development from Eastern University and his Bachelor’s in Economics and International Studies from Wake Forest University.  He is a member of NAGGL (National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders) and serves on its Small Bank Committee.
