Come hang out with Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) University students who belong to the Friends For Special Needs Group in the Alumni Center Room on the MCW Campus for a fun night filled with activities as well as some medical interative activities booths.
The first part of the night will include enjoying activities including board games, visiting with friends and pizza. The medical activities booths featured in the second half of the night will include options like a physical exam station where you can learn to listen to your heart, lungs and abdominal sounds. The more we can help our teens get comfortable with their medical health and the professionals that assist in their care, the better advocates they will be for their future.
Teens on the spectrum will be paired with a college student. College students will be supervised by MCW Staff in OT, PT and education departments and will be given a brief orientation session.
Our goal for the evening is to provide a friendly, relaxed, social setting for teens to interact with each other and with typical college students as well as be exposed to medical terms, experiences and medical staff.
Parents can stay on campus or go out to dinner nearby. Call us if you have questions.
This event is free of charge. If your child has dietary restrictions, please provide an alternate snack for them to eat.
