Bay-Friendly Gardening with Karen Duhring of VIMS

Learn about connections between our gardens and important water resources, including actions that gardeners can take to help reduce the amount of sediment, nutrients & chemical contaminants entering the Chesapeake Bay.

Join us as we welcome Karen Duhring, coastal scientist at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), Center for Coastal Resources Management.  Karen’s program will explain how the choices we make in our gardens and landscapes, no matter where they are located, can either positively or negatively impact water quality and aquatic life in Chesapeake Bay waterways. Best practices will be described to reduce erosion and chemical contaminants leaving the landscape, filter storm water runoff, and improve wildlife habitat, while also providing human enjoyment of the landscape.

Registration is now closed, but as of 8 pm Friday

a few seats are available for walk-ins.

Free, but a $5 donation at the door is suggested to help the garden continue to grow and offer programs like this.
