GA ITE February 2019 Monthly Meeting

Topic: Railroad Preemption/The Rest of the Story
Typically when you think of preemption, you think of simultaneous or advance preemption as the issue. This presentation takes a look at what you need to consider while evaluating railroad preemption and what tools can be utilized, such as pre-signals, queue cutters and platooning traffic, to get your time below the AREMA Maximum warning time of 50 seconds when you have longer queues to clear
Come by and hear from Jason Field who is an industry leader in preemption as well as an expert on all things crossing safety. He has been working for over 20 years exclusively in the overlapping ROW of highways and railroads thorughout the county and has developed the bi-lingual talents imperative for balancing the needs of roadway agencies and railroads when it comes to safety, efficiency and benefit/cost issues.
