Physicians' Day at the Legislature

Wednesday, March 13, 2019

9:00 - 3:00 p.m.

There is no fee to attend this event

but registration is appreciated.

The Maine Medical Association and the Maine Osteopathic Association will invite all Members of the Maine State Legislature to join Maine physicians in the Hall of Flags, Wednesday, March 13, 2019, 9:00 - 3:00 p.m.
The Maine Medical Association is pleased to announce that, in partnership with the Maine Osteopathic Association, we are once again hosting the “Physicians’ Day at the Legislature” on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from 9 am to 3 pm in the Hall of Flags.  Physicians’ Day is an important component of our grassroots legislative advocacy and provides an opportunity for Maine’s medical community to present information on current practice advances in all the medical specialties.  Moreover, it is fun for participating physicians to spend an hour or two or the entire day at the Legislature participating in the political process.
Soon we will be preparing the agenda for the day and our intentions are to include meetings with legislative leadership, and Governor Mills if she is available.  We hope that this announcement allows you the time to work “Physicians’ Day at the Legislature” into your schedule.  If you are interested and available to participate in the event, please click on the "Register Now" link to the left of this page.

Important Information

Attire: Dress comfortably but professionally. The floors are marble so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. White coat attire is suggested for maximum impact at the State House.

Parking: Across from the state office building there is a free parking garage (see

Specialty Society Membership Information: For those specialty societies exhibiting at a booth, it might be a good idea to get a list of all of your society’s members in case a legislator is interested in whether or not his/her provider is a member. Also, general information on how a provider becomes a member might be useful as well.

Set Up: Just a reminder that the electrical outlets are limited in the room so if you have a table and electrical needs it may be a good idea to bring an electrical “strip”; there is no wall space so if you have posters, etc., you should bring a table top or regular easel.

Unloading Area: If you are exhibiting, the glass doors on the west side of the building, facing the State Office Building, are where you should unload. You may bring items in through the glass doors, at which point, you will need to go through the security check point. It is similar to airport security check points, but you don’t have to take your shoes off. Then proceed either to the stairs or an elevator on the left side of the security station. The event takes place up one floor in the Hall of Flags. Once you have unloaded, please park your car as soon as possible. The parking garage is across the street (next to Bangor Savings Bank).
