COOKING CLUB: Cooking Around America ~ New Orleans Cuisine for Mardi Gras! - Wednesday, February 27th, 6:00-8:30pm

  Baked Oysters Gumbo Bananas Foster    

Celebrate Mardi Gras in style this year by learning how to recreate legendary Cajun and Creole flavors in your own kitchen. It all starts with a roux! Menu:Oysters Bienville: Baked oysters with a combination of mushrooms, white wine and parmesan; created at the famous Antoine's Restaurant in New Orleans and now served throughout the state.New Orleans Style Gumbo: Chicken, sausage, and shrimp in a rich gravy made with what Louisianans call the "holy trinity" of onions, celery and bell peppers simmering in a rich dark roux and served over rice. Bananas Foster: Flambéed bananas in a brown sugar & rum sauce served over vanilla ice cream. Our menu will be enjoyed with a tasting of Pat O'Brien's style Hurricanes.

In this adult cooking club series, led by Chef Deja Hart, we will cook, bake and experiment with ingredients, spices and preparation methods from countries around the world! *Suitable for cooks of all levels. All you need is a passion for food, sharing ideas and a love of cooking. We will enjoy everything we make together, accompanied by wine tastings.  

How it works: Sign up for any Cooking Club class that peaks your interest. At your first class you will receive a Newport Cooks Club Card.  Each time you take a club class your card will be punched.  After 5 classes you will receive a free Newport Cooks Embroidered Apron; and after every 10th class you will get 1 class FREE!

 Please Note: We cook and bake with the very best ingredients we can purchase which may include gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, dairy, fish & shellfish. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate for special diets and/or severe allergies in our cooking club classes. 

 *Must have at least 6 registered to hold each class so invite all of your foodie friends to join the fun!
