Presenter: Batsheva Hartstein, LCSW-C, RPT
6 of CE Hours, Clock Hours, Contact Hours
Beginner, Clinical, Live, Contact

Description:
A directive play therapy approach is used as a means to engage children with toys and activities since children 3-10 years or age typically do not have the cognitive ability to process inner conflict. Play is the child’s language and toys their words. With directive play therapy, therapists will gain a greater knowledge of how to work on goals related to anger management and self-control using hands-on play therapy techniques. Participants will be exposed to new games, songs, activities, and worksheets they can incorporate in sessions to facilitate insight and promote growth and change related to anger goals. Discussions will incorporate how to engage kids with resistance, denial, and opposition in addressing anger. Additionally, the training will demonstrate how to share the techniques in family sessions and coach parents with play therapy and concrete strategies to help get a more effective response from their child.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and apply their new knowledge and play therapy skills during the training.

This workshop is designed for: Social workers (LCSW, LMSW, LISW, BSW, AAW), psychologists (Ph.D, Psy.D, Ed.D), school counselors, school psychologists, licensed counselors (LMHC, LCMHC, CMHC, LPC, LCPC), marriage and family therapists (LMFT, LIMFT), art therapists, play therapists, occupational therapists, graduate students, and others in the mental health-related field.  This is a presentation for professionals at all levels to participate.
