Tangipahoa School System Update:  Melissa Stilley, Superintendent

  Topic Description: Melissa Martin Stilley is committed to working 150 percent for the children of Tangipahoa Parish. “You have to set your standards high and work toward that and align all of our schools and offices around that,” she told the board during a meeting. “Together we can figure this out.  Join us as hear the progress Mrs. Stilley has made since taking office last year and her goals for the future of our schools. 

 

 

 

 

 About the speaker: Melissa was selected in June 2018 to serve as the first female superintendent of TangipahoaParish School System after an extensive nationwide search by the board. Melissa previously served in a statewide leadership role for Louisiana Department of Education, coordinating support to school districts across the state. In her state leadership role, her focus was turning around low performing schools and serving as a liaison between thestate superintendent and local school district superintendents.

During her 30year career in education, Melissa has served as a classroom teacher,assistant principal, principal, District Supervisor of Curriculum Instruction, and Chief Academic Officer for the Tangipahoa Parish School System before being named Network Leader for Northeast Louisiana in July 2012.

Melissa is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership. Melissa’s dissertation focuses on the impact of collaborative cultures on leader collective efficacy. She earned her Master's Degree in School Administration in 1999, Plus 30 in Special  Education in 2000, and Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1987, all from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.    

Networking begins at 11:30 am;  lunch and official business will start at 12:00 noon.
