Young children are asked to leave their early childhood educational settings at alarming rates – greater than those in the K-12 system.  This session will identify national trends regarding preschool expulsion, factors influencing expulsions and explore the impact on children and families. Participants will learn about Ohio’s response to this national crisis through use of a model of ECMH Consultation and the Ohio Preschool Expulsion Prevention Partnership.

 Objectives and Agenda:

1. Early childhood providers will be able to identify national trends related to preschool expulsion.

2. Participants will be able to define the OPEPP program and interpret local implementation.

3. Participants will be able to identify and list additional resources available to early childhood programs to prevent expulsion.
