What Will It Take to End Homelessness in Boston & Beyond? Insights From Policy, Research & Advocacy

Homelessness is one of the most pressing problems facing Boston and other cities throughout the United States. There is an emerging consensus that ending homelessness is possible, but progress towards this goal is complicated by larger problems of housing affordability and the broader policy context. This seminar will integrate the perspectives of researchers, policymakers, and advocates to examine solutions to the problem and discuss challenges to ending homelessness as we know it. Lunch will be provided. The panel will feature:
  • Tom Byrne, Assistant Professor of Social Work, Boston University
  • Laila Bernstein, Deputy Director for the Supportive Housing Division & Advisor to the Mayor for the Initiative to End Chronic Homelessness, City of Boston
  • Joe Finn, President & Executive Director, Mass Housing & Shelter Alliance
