3:00 to 5:00 p.m. - Board meeting, open to all members.

5:00 to 6:00 p.m. - Registration and social networking hour (one on one meeting with Bob)

6:00 to 7:00 p.m. - Dinner. (Please indicate in your registration if you have any dietary restrictions)

7:00 to 9:00 p.m. - 2 IRS CE credits (learn more about our topic and speakers below)

 

A whole new way to earn CPE with MaSEA.

-Now you can learn about the fascinating topics discussed at our monthly meetings, but at home or work.

-With MaSEA's webcast, you can earn CPE even if you can't make it to the meeting.

-In order to receive the CPE credits you must be watching the webcast LIVE (7-9 p.m.), and interact with questions in real time. This is to authenticate your virtual attendance.

-If this is the choice for you please be sure to select the webcast only payment option in the registration. 

-You will recieve an email before the meeting with a link to our webcast and more information on how to earn your CPE credits.

-Webcast registration closes on February 17th.

-Available to all.

Monthly Meeting Topic: IRS ReportCard 

Description: Once a year the IRS Office of Legislative Affairs with Taxpayer Advocate Services meet with their representative Congressional offices. Bob Allen, IRS Taxpayer Advocate for MA, will be deliver the results of those conversations with emphasis on interpretations of problematic areas TCJA, technology advancements, data safeguards and process improvement procedural changes. Dues to the Government SHutdown, the Purple Book has not been delivered to Congress just yet, If it is available, the annual report card on IRS from Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson will be recapped.

 

Bio: Bob Allen is the Local Taxpayer Advocate (LTA) for Boston Massachusetts.  The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent organization within the IRS, led by the National Taxpayer Advocate.  We protect taxpayers’ rights by ensuring that all taxpayers are treated fairly, and that they know and understand their rights under the Taxpayer Bill of Rights.  We help individuals, businesses, and exempt organizations resolve problems they can’t resolve with the IRS.

Bob worked for the IRS for 26 years, primarily as a manager of the Exam Technical Services unit prior to becoming the LTA.  He has an extensive background in tax administration and teaching, having taught individual, corporate, and flow-thru tax law to numerous Internal Revenue Agents and others over the years.

CPE credits count toward fulfillment of the Continuing Professional Education requirements of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents and the Internal Revenue Service. Except education credits for state tax courses will not count toward IRS requirements under Circular 230.
