Response to Violent Intruders

Prepare your employees and coworkers for one of the most challenging situations: A violent armed intruder on company premises or in your company buildings.

Corporal Matthew O'Connor received an undergraduate degree in criminology, and currently he is working towards a graduate degree from the University of Oklahoma in administrative leadership. Matthew has been with the police department for 10 years where he worked a variety of assignments including patrol, FTO (training new officers), school resource officer, patrol supervisor, and community relations. He has been on the North Central Regional SWAT team for the past 8 years, where he is an assistant team leader on the entry team, and the sniper team leader. Matthew is the head firearms instructor and has have numerous instructor certifications related to tactics, use of force, critical incident response, and command and control.

A Changing World: Over the course of the last 5 years, we’ve seen attacks occur in schools, the workplace, places of worship, and public venues (movie theaters, concerts, downtown districts, etc.). Forty-five percent of active shooter incidents happen in the workplace (according to FBI) and it is always better for HR specialists and supervisors to be prepared for these incidents. These incidents have happened in San Francisco County and San Mateo County.
