An Armchair Adventure to the Windward Islands
July 23
Join fellow Salty Dawgs and area cruisers for the Downeast Rendezvous at the Camden Yacht Club overlooking the pristine Camden Harbor on the Midcoast of Maine. You will enjoy a social gathering of like-minded cruisers and Bob's presentation on making passage to the Caribbean and cruising from Antigua to the Grenadines.
Join us on July 23, 5-8pm. All are welcome.
The islands of the eastern Caribbean form a graceful arc from Puerto Rico south to Trinidad, ending just north of Venezuela. The Windward islands comprise the southern half of the chain from Martinique to Grenada for a total distance of approximately 450 miles.
Some (including Bob!) say that the “Real Caribbean begins in Antigua” and the farther south you get, the more magnificent the scenery becomes with the volvanic peaks that "kiss the clouds."
Cruising the Windwards offers line-of-sight passages between islands, consistent trade wind sailing, and easy reaching both north and south to just about anywhere in the Caribbean. Bob will share photographs of magnificent tropical scenery, beautiful anchorages and spectacular yachts that sail those waters

The Salty Dawg Sailing Association hosts the largest rally from the U.S. East Coast to the Caribbean, departing from Hampton, VA in early November. About 80 boats sail with the Dawgs each year. Click here to read about Salty Dawg Rallies.
