Universal Safe Church training is required of all diocesan employees, all employees of congregations, new clergy and clergy transferring into the diocese, wardens, vestry members, Eucharistic Visitors (EV), pastoral visitors, youth leaders, confirmation sponsors, retreat mentors, acolyte leaders, choir directors, church school teachers, and volunteers working in the parish on a regular basis. This training is also suitable for clergy (in addition to Clergy Refresher). All members of the Episcopal Church and other interested parties may attend this training.

You may want to check with your clergy to see if your safe church registration fee is covered by the congregation or is paid by each individual; both methods are common.  Financial assistance with the cost of this training is available. An online version of this training, recommended for parish lay volunteers, is also available.

If you would like information about the online program please contact Jennifer Garrett, at jgarrett@diomass.org or 617.482.4826 x421.
