Assessment, Evaluation, & Remediation: Tools for Effective Clinical Supervision

September 20, 2019 | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Trainer: Karen Hutchings, MA, LPCC-S

This six-hour training will cover topics of assessment and evaluation of a supervisee’s overall knowledge, skills, and self-awareness. The course will include opportunities to practice using formal and informal evaluation tools to aid the supervisee in skill attainment and enhancement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will become familiar with initial, formative, and summative assessment of the supervisee’s knowledge, skills, and self-awareness. 
  • Participants will become familiar with components of formal and informal evaluation.
  • Participants will become familiar with skills needed to address remediation of supervisee skills, knowledge, effectiveness, and self-awareness.

Continuing Education Details: This training offers six supervision CEUs for Ohio licensed counselors (RCX029002), social workers (RSX069001) and chemical dependency professionals.

 

Attending to Counselor Development within the Clinical Supervision Relationship

This six-hour training will cover models of clinical supervision with a focus on counselor development. The course will include practice and application of supervision and learning models to enhance supervisee development.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will become familiar with different models of clinical supervision.
  • Participants will become familiar with the impact of individual differences and learning styles on the clinical supervision relationship.
  • Participants will become familiar with typical counselor development.
  • Participants will become aware of the relational dynamics present in the supervision relationship and how the relationship develops over time.

Management and Administrative Aspects of Clinical Supervision

November 15, 2019 | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Trainer: Karen Hutchings, MA, LPCC-S

This six-hour training will aid in developing processes & procedures related to management & administrative aspects of clinical supervision. Participants will practice appropriate documentation, reporting processes & supervision skills that will enhance their ability to engage in the management & administrative aspects of clinical supervision.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will become aware of necessary record keeping, reporting, and monitoring within the clinical supervision relationship.
  • Participants will become aware of appropriate policies and procedures related to clinical supervisor roles and responsibilities and how to attend to these appropriately 
  • Participants will become aware of the strengths and challenges associated with the dual role of clinical and administrative supervisor.
  • Participants will be exposed to templates and ideas to enhance the clinical supervisor’s ability to attend to the organizational process’s procedures associated the management and administrative aspects of clinical supervision.

Legal, Ethical, and Professional Responsibilities related to Clinical Supervision

December 12, 2019 | 9:00am - 4:00pm | Trainer: Karen Hutchings, MA, LPCC-S

This six-hour training will include a robust review of the legal and ethical issues associated with clinical supervision. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the most recent rules, laws, and ethics associated with the responsibility of clinical supervision. There will be an opportunity to discuss these concepts within the training group to enhance practical application and understanding. Participants will be provided with tip sheets and resources for easy reference.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will become aware of the inherent ethical and legal issues associated with clinical supervision.
  • Participants will explore and understand concepts related to competence, due process in evaluation, informed consent, types of supervisor liability, privileged communication, and consultation,
  • Participants will review the most updated regulatory issues including Ohio laws governing the practice of counseling and counseling supervision, professional standards and credentialing processes.

This training is approved for six CEUs through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board and the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage Family Therapist Board and meets the requirements for supervision continuing education.
