First Congregational Church of Fall River invites you to an afternoon with guest theologian Dr. Leonard Sweet to explore "A Charge to Keep I Have."

May 18th, 2019 from 1:00-4:00pm

203 years ago 5 individuals gathered to worship Jesus. They had a calling and charge to keep, having just endured the fighting and labors of war, they gathered to keep their charge for their age to their Creator.

In so doing they began the legacy of what would become the First Congregational Church of Fall River. We too gather in our own age with our own challenges and our own charge, so we have invited Dr Leonard Sweet to help us all keep our charge in this age.

Dr Sweet writes: "The hymn “A Charge to Keep I Have” includes the line “To Serve This Present Age, Our Calling to Fulfill” Each one of us is here via arranged marriage . . a divinely arranged marriage. In the sovereignty and providence of God, we have been divinely appointed and anointed for “this present age,” this 21st century, digital age . . It’s not the age I would have chosen, but it’s the age God chose for me to serve, to do ministry and mission.
How do we Keep Our Charge?
How do we Keep The Charge, and keep “charged” or stayed “charged up” and plugged in to power and purpose, for this 21st century with our 22nd century kids?"

Its our hope you will come and hear Dr Sweet's invitation to renew our commitment to the charge we have to keep for our generation.
