Putting the Puzzle Together: Medicare Update 2019 

Description

To case manage their clients and to be able to evaluate them for programs and services, Social Workers and Counselors need to be able to list the similarities and differences between Medicare and Medicaid in Ohio, describe Medicare Part A and B and supplemental insurance options and Medicare "By In" programs, and identify current Medicare issues and their impact on clients and those who work in health and social services.

Training Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:

  • List similarities and differences between Medicare and Medicaid in Ohio
  • Describe Medicare part A and B, supplemental insurance options, and Medicare "Buy In" programs
  • Identify and describe current Medicare issues and their impact on clients and those who work in health and social services

Presenter: Paula Taliaferro, MGS, LSW

Paula works part time at the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging as an Outreach and Educational Specialist.  As such, she has presented over 650 workshops in the last decade.  Paula holds a Master's Degree in Gerontology from Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University and a License in Social Work in the State of Ohio.  She is a PAC Approved Trainer under Teepa Snow's Positive Approach Certification.  She is a developer of the "Aging in Ohio" course which is required of many professionals who work with older adults.  In addition, she is one of two developers of the "Fundamentals of Guardianship" courses sponsored by the Ohio Supreme Court's Judicial College.
