Amy Speidel comes to us as a national presenter with Loving Guidance, Inc. She is also a certified Parent Coach, working with families within a pediatric practice.
Amy brings a humorous and insightful perspective to her presentations by sharing many personal insights about the challenges and delights of children. Having been a foster parent, a birth parent and an adoptive parent, Amy knows the beauty and mess of the journey with children.
Amy first used Conscious Discipline as a teacher, and witnessed a transformation in her students. She now aspires to support all adults who come in contact with children by sharing Conscious DisciplineŽ with them through practical, user friendly seminars and workshops.
Ms. Porter received a Master of Science in Speech/Language Pathology in 1981 and has National Board Certification.
After working as speech pathologist in several setting, Ms. Porter began work with Picayune School District in 1987 and served in several different capacities. For several years, she was the Educational Diagnostician for the Special Education department.
In 1999, Ms. Porter became the Early Childhood Intervention Coordinator along with duties as Coordinator of the Texas Scottish Rite Dyslexia and Literacy Program for the Picayune School District. During this time, she established quality programs for the Picayune School District in both of these arenas.
Ms. Porter has presented information on early childhood development programs and the establishment of an effective dyslexia program for students to many audiences over the past three years. She appeared before the Ms. House of Representatives Education Committee, the Mississippi Senate, and Mississippi Department of Education “Improving Schools Conference” to present relevant information on all the above-mentioned programs.
Ms. Porter moved from the position of Speech Pathologists for Picayune School District to classroom teacher in 2003/2004 school year where she taught Oral Communications at Picayune Memorial High School. She never had a discipline referral to the office for classroom behavior. During her time as classroom teacher and since retirement, she has held over 100 training days on proving a relationship based classroom.The Oklahoma CASA Association is pleased to invite you to the 2019 conference, Voices for Children, May 3-4, 2019. This two-day conference is packed with great speakers and new information which will motivate and inspire while supporting and enhancing the work you do with children and families. Conference registration is open to anyone who wishes to attend (CASA, PARB, OKDHS, Law Enforcement, etc.) but seating is limited, so register early.
