Archery has been a medal sport since the first Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960 and BlazeSports America is proud to partner with the Governors Gun Club for the first BlazeSports Veteran & Open Southeast Archery Tournament.  

This is not a sanctioned USA Archery event; however, the tournament will follow USA Archery guidelines giving athletes with physical disabilities an even playing ground to compete and showcase their shooting precision and accuracy regardless of their physical disability. 

DIVISIONS: Men & Women will compete in separate divisions

  • RECURVE:  Olympic, Barebow/Traditional & W1
  • COMPOUND:  Compound, Sighted with Fingers, W1
  • VISUALLY IMPAIRED:  Will wear eye coverings & all discipline types

FORMAT:

  • DISTANCE: 18M
  • ARROWS:  3 for 20 ends. 60 total. (2 minutes per end)
  • 15 minute break midway.
  • Each archer is required to bring their own equipment. None will be provided at the tournament. 

EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATION:

  • Barebow = no sight, stabilizer, mechanical release, etc. 
  • Genesis bows without sight, stabilizer, and/or mechanical release should select the Recurve division. 
  • Genesis bows with sight, stabilizer, and/or mechanical release should select the Compound division. 
  • Compound Bows are limited to 60lbs. 
  • W1 is wheelchair

Registration includes lunch buffet and tournament t-shirt. Additional meals can be purchased in advance of event. 

  • Pre-registration (online):  $10 per session
  • Walk-in Registration:  $40 per session
  • Definition of a Veteran with Physical Disability:  Any person who has served in the military and has sustained a disability resulting in a physical or visual impairment.
  • Cancellations:  non-refundable after Marth 10th
  • USA Archery Membership is not required to participate

  • MEN 18-39
  • MEN 40-59
  • MEN 60+
  • WOMEN 18 -39
  • WOMEN 40-59
  • WOMEN 60+

 

*This is an open tournament. If you would like to invite someone to participate that is not a Veteran with a physical disability, their cost is $25 per session if they register in advance. Age classification differs for the open format. Contact veterans@blazesports.org for more information.

  • VETERAN AWARDS:  AFTER MORNING SESSION IS COMPLETED 
2.  AFTERNOON SESSION:
    (OPEN SESSION - ANYONE CAN COMPETE including veterans with physical disabilities.  For non-veterans, please register at https://tinyurl.com/y2q9zemm)

  • CHECK-IN:  12:30 PM
  • WARM-UP:  1:00 PM
  • SCORING STARTS:  2:00 PM
  • OPEN AWARDS:  AT END OF AFTERNOON SESSION 
AWARDS CEREMONY: (if you are unable to stay for the award presentation, please make arrangements with a teammate or friend to pick up your award.)
  
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 
  • Dress Code: Appropriate Dress is required along with closed toe shoes.
  • Separate warm up range
  • Para Athletes are welcome. Please register early so that we can arrange for appropriate range accommodations. There will not be a separate para division -- please register as JOAD or ADULT in appropriate division. 
  • Collegiate Athletes are welcome; however, we will not be holding a separate Collegiate division. 
  • Medical area will be available.  
  • Noise: gun range noise is possible but is very minimal and should not be an issue for participants sensitive to loud noises.
  • Working dogs allowed.
  • Definition of a Veteran with Physical Disability:  Any person who has served in the military and has sustained a disability resulting in a physical or visual impairment.
  • Competitors may shoot compound and recurve bows from a standing or seated position.
  • Men and women will be combined for all archery events.

The undersigned acknowledges and agrees as follows:

I hereby agree not to sue and release, hold harmless, and forever discharge, BlazeSports America, Inc. any co-sponsoring entities of the Programs, all of their officers, directors, members, agents, and/or employees, and any and all sponsors, officials, volunteers, and other participants of the BlazeSports Track and Field Meet (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, property damage, or personal injury, including death, that may be sustained by me or any property  belonging to me, whether arising from negligence of any of the Releasees, or otherwise, while participating, including transportation to and from said programs. 

I hereby consent to the administration of first aid or other medical treatment if needed during the track and field meet.  I agree to assume full responsibility for payment of any and all fees incurred as a result of such medical treatment.  I understand that all participants in this track and field  are required to have their own medical insurance coverage, and that neither BlazeSports America, Inc. or any other sponsoring entities provide such coverage.

I hereby voluntarily and without compensation authorize visual images and/or voice recordings to be made of me by or on behalf of BlazeSports America, Inc. and other sponsoring entities during the Programs.  I also authorize the foregoing entities and their assigns to reproduce, modify, publicize, broadcast and display any such visual

This covenant not to sue, release and hold harmless agreement is binding on me, my heirs, assigns, personal representatives, administrators, and next of kin.

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY WITHOUT INDUCEMENT.
