HMA Pavement Smoothness class San Jose

PAVEMENT SMOOTHNESS ESSENTIALS -- NEW SPECIFICATIONS, TECHNOLOGY & BEST PRACTICES

By popular demand, CalAPA is pleased to offer an intensive, half-day training class on HMA "Pavement Smoothness Essentials." New pavement smoothness specifications and technology are changing faster than you can say "goodbye incentives, hello deductions." In this fast-paced class, engineer and noted pavement expert Mike Robinson will provide the latest information on new Caltrans smoothness specifications, the Inertial Profiler, the ProVAl software, paving best practices, tips on creating an effective grinding plan and more. What you don't know can cost you!

Robinson (pictured), a paving consultant who formerly worked for Caltrans and private industry, will bring his  engaging style and real-world examples to this lively class. This seminar is an outgrowth of the highly popular presentation he gave at the CalAPA Asphalt Pavement Conferences.

The class will cover spec changes and terminology, measuring smoothness, incentives & disincentives, inspection & acceptance, smoothness technology, ProVAL Software, the Inertial Profiler, IRI, Grinding Plans and "Superpave" considerations.

Bonus! All class attendees will receive a reference booklet that includes copies of the slide presentation, key acronyms, glossary and other reference items for future use. Attendees will also receive a handsome certificate of completion documenting that they have completed four (4) Professional Development Hours (PDH) of technical instruction.

Registration for this class will be on a first-come, first served basis for the first 40 people registered. On-line registration is required and must be completed by clicking on the "Register Now" button below. For registration questions, please contact Sophie You of CalAPA at (916) 791-5044.
