2019 NEASCE March Environmental Section Meeting

Please join us for the Nebraska Section of ASCE's March Section meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2019.  Hosted by the Nebraska Section Environmental Technical Group.  (Shannon DeVivo, NEASCE Environmental Group Chair)

PROGRAM

Topic: Environmental Risk Management

Public awareness and concern for the fragility of our natural environment has heightened in recent years thanks in part to the media attention that large environmental accidents have attracted. One of the side effects of this publicity is that companies are increasingly aware of their environmental exposures. Owners, risk managers, lending institutions and government agencies at all levels are now requesting environmental insurance coverage for the businesses they manage or with whom they contract. As a result, a growing number of engineering firms are being asked to provide proof of contractors pollution liability insurance coverage on awarded projects. The discussion will provide a brief overfiew of the environmental coverage along with some claims scenarios to bring the coverage to life.

Presenters: Patrick Enderlin, Assistant Vice President of Underwriting, Ironshore
Andrew Fereday, Area Senior Vice President, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

Patrick joined Ironshore in March 2014 as a Production Specialist and is currently an Assistant Vice President of underwriting for Ironshore Environmental. Prior to his career at Ironshore, Patrick earned his Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from St. John's University followed by working at a competing carrier for two years.

Working for a specialty insurance company provides great experience in tailoring insurance programs to individual insureds and risks. Now part of Liberty Mutual, the company has an even greater financial backing to support the growth of the business and development of such programs. With a focus on underwriting both site pollution and contractor's pollution policies, Patrick's experience provides a unique perspective on approaching risks for developments and redevelopment projects.

Andrew has many years experience in the Environmental Risk arena which is an increasingly important part of a company's daily operations. With a passion for looking at insurance from a different angle, Andrew provides environmentally focused businesses with technical knowledge, brokering assistance and placement of their environmental liabilities. His environmental expertise is, in many ways, unique to the insurance world. He has established successful relationships with the ever-growing environmental insurance marketplace which allow him to package general liability, auto liability, umbrella liability and pollution liability into a seamless program. Andrew and his team will work together to create awareness of the risks and exposures associated with environmental and sustainability issues.
