Our journeys are replete with moments in which we are stretched, compressed, and sometimes even bent out of whatever shapes we have taken. Presence, with a light heart, flexibility, and adaptability are key to navigating life’s unexpected twists and turns. Join us this summer for our 15th Annual Tribal Gathering: Resilience: The Power of Presence!

Set right in the heart of summer, the weekend features six amazing movement teachers, each with a unique offering on our shared theme, Resilience. With a focus on nurturing embodied presence, we will explore taking shape and letting go, and movement as a transformative tool to actualize new ways of being in which we thrive.

Our Tribal Gathering is composed of embodied dancers from around the world and a fabulous catered celebratory dinner together. Join new friends and old, for a remarkable weekend of movement and discovery.

Faculty

Vin Arjuna Marti - Soul Motion, Founder - Portland OR
Arjuna melds spiritual teachings, philosophy, deep body awareness and creative dance to create a conscious awareness of the body and the soul. His work is playful, deep, reverent, curious, and he specifically uses sensory body movement, somatic, visceral, and reflective landscapes in his teachings. Referencing all different " wisdom traditions" and artists, his spicy, raunchy Bronx boy flavor is charismatic, mischievous and immediate and his own reflective practice brings a humbleness and self irony that is refreshing and appealing.

Somebody who meditates in the morning, moans at the news, and moves as the mystery, Arjuna has this ability to charm and disarm his students. A sensitive yet wild man, Arjuna is a master of movement ritual who supports his students in listening to their bodies, as a pathway to understanding their inner critics and inhibitions.

Joanne Winstanley - 5Rhythms -Victoria B.C.
Joanne leads with humour, kindness, clear intent, and a deep respect for the unique discovery process of each participant. She teaches the 5Rhythms® (Waves and Heartbeat) with a deep appreciation for the transformational nature of this practice.  Since 2001, Joanne has shared her love of movement, music, and Mystery with students throughout the region.   Website Address: Danceherenow.ca

Duncan Green - Open Floor - Olympia WA
Duncan Green has never learned a dance step. He couldn’t contra, tango or waltz to save his life. High school social dances were a torment. Yet he loves to dance; to express the body's truth through movement. Duncan danced alone at parties in his 20’s, at clubs in his 30’s, and finally in his 40’s, found 5Rhythms and then Open Floor. Having graduated with the first teacher training class of Open Floor teachers in 2016, he holds a weekly class in Olympia.
Seeing his classes as spontaneous co-creations, Duncan facilitates feedback loops between the dancers, the music and his own intuition. A pragmatic romantic, a devout skeptic, and a true believer in the power of music and “dancing while paying attention”, Duncan will lovingly hold the door open for new experiences without pushing anyone through it. Dancers may learn something while dancing with Duncan, and it will almost certainly be from their own body, and their own experience. FaceBook: Dances with Duncan

Aletia Alvarez - Soul Motion - Pt Townsend WA

Aletia is a cultivator of connection and brings a diverse and varied background to her Soul Motion™ practice. As a Certified Soul Motion Teacher, years as an organizational consultant and non-profit leader, her spark for creative movement has catalyzed dynamic personal and professional changes—allowing for the emergence of SoulFul Dance. SoulFul Dance provides a transformative "foot" bridge between interior life and the conscious understanding of self and relationship to community. Aletia works with groups and individuals that see themselves as cultural creatives... those individuals, innovative businesses, artists, activists, healers, and seekers that understand that it is time to forge new pathways, find the courage to align, and listen to "the call" or "knowing." Ronny Temple - 5Rhythms - Olympia WA
Ronny is a certified 5Rhythms Teacher with a wide breadth of experience in movement meditation and leadership that serves him well as he holds and guides OlyWaves.  Ronny fell in love with the 5Rhythms practice around 2003 and ten years later is still in the honeymoon phase. A cross between a wise man and a wise guy (OK, a bit more the latter than the former), Ronny focuses on nurturing a light heart on and off the dance floor. His teachings have a decidedly Tantric (meaning, in this context, holistic) flavor to them.

Michael Molin-Skelton - Soul Motion - Pt Townsend WA                                  Michael reaches through dance rather than teaches to dance. He has been dancing since being pushed through the birth canal. After receiving a bachelor of fine arts degree from UCLA he performed and choreographed in companies both nationally and internationally for 15 years. He met Gabrielle Roth early in 1994. Later that year, at the request of Gabrielle, he began teaching the 5rhythms. Michael got his 5rhythms certification in 1998 and teacher certification in Soul Motion in 2001. He has been a 16 year student of continuum montage with Susan Harper and his teaching of the 5rhythms and Soul Motion has been greatly influenced by her mentoring. He is a certified Esalen massage practitioner since 1995 and is passionate about the art of touch.                                                                        Home Dance Floor: Pt Townsend, WA                                                                   Web Address:   Sineceramovement.com
