Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display

Mummies and artifacts tell archaeologists about what life was like in ancient Egypt, but how do objects make their journey from excavation site to Museum display?

Peel back the curtain and get a behind-the-scenes view of the Penn Museum's famed Egyptian collection, which offers an inside look into:
  • where objects come from
  • how they are researched and cared for
  • how they are prepared for display.
View the cutting edge research...
It's not every day that a mummy in our collection goes in for a CT scan. So, when a child mummy from ancient Egypt visited Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we made sure the trip was well-documented. Click here to follow them on their journey.

...and go behind the scenes!
Visit the Penn Museum's Artifact Lab and talk with our Conservation team while they work to repair hundreds of Egyptian artifacts, including mummies and ancient Egyptian jewelry.

Organized by FitC member volunteer Mignon Adams.
