The Revd Dr Katherine Grieb

Our Keynote Speaker, The Revd Dr A Katherine Grieb, is Meade Professor of Biblical Interpretation and New Testament at Virginia Theological Seminary, where she has taught since 1994.  Previously she taught for two years at Bangor Theological Seminary in Maine.  

Dr Grieb received a BA in philosophy and religion from Hollins University, a JD from Columbus School of Law at Catholic University of America, her MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary, a PhD with Distinction (in theology) from Yale University, and an LLM in Canon Law with Distinction from the Cardiff University Law School in Wales.  

Ordained a priest in the Diocese of Washington, she serves as a member of the clergy team at St Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church.  She has taught at many places, including the Servant Leadership School of the Church of the Saviour, the College of Preachers, the Preaching Excellence Programme, the Washington National Cathedral, and at Canterbury Cathedral where she is also one of the Six Preachers.

Dr Grieb has written a book on Romans, and co-edited or co-authored several others.  She has been active in the Anglican Communion and in ecumenical and interfaith dialogues.  She is certified as a bibical storyteller by the Network of Biblical Storytellers and she directed a performance of the Gospel of Mark at Virginia Theological Seminary last year.  She is a well-known preacher and retreat leader.

Conference Registration is open between 12 noon and 2 pm on Monday, 6 May at the Whistler Conference Centre, 4010 Whistler Way.  

The Conference begins at 2 pm on Monday, 6 May and ends at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, 8 May.

 

The Clergy Conference is open to active clergy in the Diocese of New Westminster who hold the Bishop's License, and their spouses.  While the conference sessions are for clergy only, spouses are welcome to join us for meals and worship, and enjoy all that Whistler has to offer while clergy are in session.  

Retired clergy may participate.  Retired clergy should not register here, but should contact bsiksay@vancouver.anglican.ca to register.  Please have your credit card handy.  Retired clergy will have to pay the full registration fee of $375.00.

Participants must register in two steps:

Step 1: To register for the Conference, click on the "Register Now" button below to be taken to the registration page.  Use this button to register yourself and your spouse if they wish to attend the conference with you.

There is no Registration Fee for active clergy from the Diocese of New Westminster who hold the Bishop's License for parish ministry, as the Diocese is covering your conference costs and meals.

Retired Clergy must pay the full conference fee of $375.00. Retired clergy should contact Bill Siksay at 604-684-6306 ext 228 to register.  Please have your credit card handy when you call.  Please read the Cancellation Policy outlined below.

Spouses of active clergy must pay the Spousal Registration Fee of $375.00, which covers the worship sessions and meals. You can register your spouse when you click on the "Register Now" button. Spousal fees must be paid using a credit card via Pay Pal when you click on the "Register Now" button.  Please read the Cancellation Policy outlined below.

Please be sure to note any food allergies or dietary requirements that you or your spouse have when completing the registration form.

Step 2: Participants must make their own hotel reservation and pay for their own rooms.  

Please make your own hotel reservation at a Whistler hotel of your choice.  Participants are also welcome to make their own arrangements to share rooms.

PLEASE READ: CANCELLATION POLICY.  Active Clergy who cancel after the registration deadline of Thursday, April 4th, or who do not arrive at the conference, will be required to pay the full conference cost of $375.00.  Spouses who cancel after the registration deadline of Thursday, April 4th or who do not arrive at the conference will not receive a refund.  Retired clergy who cancel or who do not arrive at the conference will not receive a refund.
