Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is an intervention model for children ages birth to 5 years who have experienced at least one traumatic event and are expressing mental health, attachment, and/or behavioral problems as a result. The treatment model integrates psychodynamic, attachment, trauma, cognitive behavioral and social-learning theories into a dyadic treatment approach designed to restore the childparent relationship and the child's mental health and developmental progress. This training meets criteria for an Implementation Level Protocol Training in CPP. CPP is an evidence-based practice approved by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for Prevention and Early Intervention (PEl) services. Staff attending the training with the intention of claiming client services to Los Angeles County MHSA PEl Programs must ensure clients meet the PEl target population guidelines and their agency is approved to provide CPP.
