Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Inc. will be holding the 59th Grand Council Convention (GCC) in Washington, D.C.  

Who:   Kappa Psi Brothers, Guests, and Children

When: July 17 - 21, 2019 

Where: Grand Hyatt Washington

Why:    This is your opportunity to meet and network with Brothers throughout the Fraternity, attend professional and fraternal workshops, vote on legislative changes that could affect your Chapter or Province, and vote for your new International Executive Committee. There will be plenty of time to get to know your Brothers and to explore Washington, D.C. 

As the capital city of the United States, Washington D.C.is filled with both current happenings and history. There is something for everyone of all ages to explore and enjoy and its home to the most free attractions in the country! 

Planned convention events include officer forums, personal and professional development workshops, leadership and chapter development workshops, receptions and opportunities to give back with community and scholarship fundraising events. We will be having several new features at this GCC including a virtual 5K run, a non-traditional pharmacy career panel, a meet the candidates forum and a student poster session. We also have some new Kappa Psi Foundation fundraising events planned. Join the Brothers as we focus on “Making an Impact” in our Fraternity, at our schools and in our communities. 

Registration includes the Opening Reception, Continuing Education, Scholarship and Awards Luncheon, Attendance at all Forums and Workshops, Attendance at all business meetings (Brothers only), Grand Council Deputy Luncheon (GCDs only), Benefactor Reception (Benefactors only), Guest breakfasts (guests only), Alpha Reception, 140thAnniversary Banquet, GCC favors. 

The 59th GCC will be held at the Grand Hyatt Washington which is located in the Penn Quarter Neighborhood, a 15-20 minute walk to the National Mall with numerous monuments, museums and government buildings including the Capitol and White House. Surrounding the hotel are restaurants and shopping within easy walking distance and there is direct access to the metro from the hotel lobby. The Metro Center stop has access to the red, silver, blue and orange metro lines making it easy to explore other neighborhoods in DC or in nearby Alexandria, Virginia. 

Room Rates: Grand Hyatt Washington guest room costs are as follows:  

Standard Room: $189/night (rooms guaranteed in the conference block)

Grand Club King/Double: $264/night (based on hotel availability)

Conference Suite: $329/night (based on hotel availability) 

Grand Suite: $389/night (based on hotel availability) 

All rates are quoted for single/double occupancy.

An additional $10 per person per room night will be charged for triple/quadruple occupancy. 

Please note there are a LIMITED number of suites and Grand Club rooms available to our group. These rooms are not guaranteed and are on a first come, first serve basis based on hotel availability so earlier booking is encouraged.

Travel Information: There are multiple options for travel into Washington, D.C.

Flights:  Three airports are within reasonable travel distance to the Grand Hyatt Washington

  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
  • Dulles International Airport (IAD)
  • Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)

Reagan National is the closest airport to the hotel but the best choice depends on a variety of factors including flight prices and schedules and transportation prices/schedules to and from the hotel. The costs of travel to and from the airport may vary significantly for attendees depending on the size of the group traveling together.

Train:  Union station (train station and transportation hub) is 2 miles from the Grand Hyatt and is connected to the hotel by Metro.
