Join us for an intimate evening where local storytellers share their stories (in various ways!) and help us celebrate the many ways that kindness connects us! Community members of all ages are welcome to attend and stay for a reception immediately following the program. Food and drink generously donated by our partners at Wegmans.
About our Special Guest, Tom Melville, Executive News Director, WBUR 
Tom Melville is a leader in Boston journalism and a longtime supporter of the WBUR radio show (and podcast), Kind World.
Tom Melville joined WBUR as executive editor of content in 2011, was promoted to news director in 2013 and to executive news director in 2015. Previously he was news director at the nation’s largest regional news channel, New England Cable News (NECN). In that role he was the network’s senior news and programming executive, leading NECN to the highest ratings in its history. Melville arrived at NECN in 1993 as chief political reporter and rose through the ranks to executive producer and to assistant news director before being named news director in 2008. While at NECN he was co-writer and executive producer of the documentary film “Look for Me Here: 299 days in the life of Nora Lenihan,” which won the George Foster Peabody award.
Previously he worked as consumer reporter for WPTV, the NBC television station in West Palm Beach, Florida; as anchor, reporter, producer and news director for WNNE, the NBC television station in White River Junction, Vermont; and as anchor and agriculture reporter for KCAU, the ABC television station in Sioux City, Iowa. Melville is an attorney licensed in Massachusetts and a graduate of Boston College Law School. He served in the United States Peace Corps, teaching vegetable gardening to school children in a small town in the Dominican Republic. He began his career in journalism at age 16 at WNTN, the radio station in his home town of Newton, Massachusetts.
