J. Andrew Greenblatt: Opening New Frontiers in Film in Philadelphia
Join Art in the City for lunch with special guest J. Andrew Greenblatt, Executive Director of the Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) and the Philadelphia Film Festival, where he will discuss the remarkable resurgence of film in Philadelphia.
Andrew has served as Executive Director and CEOof the Philadelphia Film Society since 2008. Prior to that, he worked in the entertainment industry as an entertainment attorney, and as president of business and legal affairs for an independent film production company.
An independent feature film producer, Andrew credits as a producer include one short film, four feature-length documentaries, and four narrative features.
Andrew has helped place film in the forefront of creative entertainment in Philadelphia. For the last ten years he has produced the Philadelphia Film Festival, an annual international festival that showcases provocative and thought-provoking films. In addition to saving and restoring the Roxy, in October 2018 PFS renamed the Prince Theater to the Philadelphia Film Center, with the venue moving exclusively to film programming at the start of 2019. Beyond the shift in programming, PFS additionally plans for building and equipment improvements to the Philadelphia Film Center in the near future.
