Summary:
With each passing day, artificial intelligence is becoming more relevant to efforts supporting national security missions and operations. In fact, the Defense Department’s newly released Artificial Intelligence Strategy states DoD must increase the adoption of artificial intelligence to maintain its strategic position in the world, succeed on future battlefields and protect the homeland. Despite its increasing relevance and importance, newcomers to machine learning and artificial intelligence could find understanding introductory concepts challenging at first. Machine learning continues to evolve and is still a niche technology in many industries, including defense. This discussion will delve into to the concepts behind machine learning and the relationship with artificial intelligence. Designed with the newcomer to this technology in mind, topics covered include an overview of the applications of machine learning, the different types, an overview of the methodology, and an introduction to other related technologies.
Speaker Bio:
Over the last decade, Sri Iyer has helped organizations solve complex business problems by using disruptive technology as an enabler, driving innovation from strategy through execution. Sri currently functions as the AI Solutions Lead for Guidehouse where he spearheads advanced analytic programs across the Federal government. Some of his projects include using predictive analytics to prevent outages at CIA’s network operations center, implementing neural networks for insider threat monitoring at ODNI, leveraging machine learning for charge card fraud detection at the GSA, and helping stand up a Digital War Room for the F-35 Lighting II fighter jet.
